Running On Empty
04:03
|
|||
I’m running on empty I got, fumes in the tank
I got a thousand miles to go, but I’m barely awake
I’m feeling overworked, and underpaid
And I guess I’m wondering, will it ever change?
Will it ever change....
They say, I'm staying up too late,
But I think, I'm waking up too early
They say, I need to take a break
But my mind is being pulled in too many directions and I...
I’m running on empty I got, fumes in the tank
I got a thousand miles to go, but I’m barely awake
I’m feeling overworked, and underpaid
And I guess I’m wondering, will it ever change?
Will it ever change....
my mind is pulling me, in too many directions
and I don’t really know which one to take
I swear, in all my dreams, the clocks are running backwards
And I can’t seem to keep myself awake
I’m running on empty I got, fumes in the tank
I got a thousand miles to go, but I’m barely awake
I’m feeling overworked, and underpaid
And I guess I’m wondering, will it ever change?
Will it ever change....
I got no money.. and I got no time...
Will it ever change....

Every Time It Rains
By Jesse Stratton
I got lost in the rain one night
And a part of me never came back
Never made it home
You drove me off to a quiet spot
And I watched the rain falling down
Falling down on you
When I saw them pretty eyes
Looking up at me all night
I don’t really think I had a chance
When you were walking up to me
How was I supposed to leave?
How was I supposed to let it pass?
Every time it rains, I think about you
Lately I’ve been restless and
Staying up all night long
What’d you do to me?
I’ve been thinking about the way you looked
Standing there in that rain
How’d you get so free?
When I saw them pretty eyes
Looking up at me all night
I don’t really think I had a chance
When you were walking up to me
How was I supposed to leave?
How was I supposed to let it pass?
Every time it rains, I think about you

Still Thursday Night

Still Thursday Night
by Jesse Stratton
Its one o clock Friday morning but it's, still Thursday night
There's time for one more song and then they're turning out these lights
I gotta hurry up, and get back on the road
I still got two hundred miles to go
I gotta wake up in about 6 hours, and drag myself to work
I have somewhere to lay my head, but I gotta get there first
there ain't much time for sleeping, living on the road
And I sure hope that I can make it home
It's 4 o clock Friday morning and I'm, still on my way
I pass another sleepy town, and I kinda want to stay
But I gotta keep on moving, finally getting close,
I’ve always liked a lonely moonlit road
Now I'm pulling in the driveway, and I'm looking at the stars
I made it back to Blanco, and I'm turnin' off the car
Sleep a couple hours here, then it's back out on the road
But I'm sure glad I finally made it home
It's 5 o clock Friday morning, but it's still Thursday night…

The River

The River
by Jesse Stratton
i could stay here all night
and watch the reflection of stars in your eyes
we can watch the sunrise
together we’ll stare at the blossoming sky
we’ve been talking a lot
avoiding the things that we want to ignore
and i’ve been thinking tonight
is this a dream, or is it, something more...
staring at the sky
our story’s in the stars
i wish i had a way to make it last
to keep us where we are...
can we runaway
disappear into my dreams
and let this river take us to a place
where no one else can see...
just the moonlight, you, and me
i don’t wanna believe
this feeling that we’ll never be here again
in this moment of peace
i don’t wanna worry when it’s gonna end
i wanna hide from the world
It's hard when the moon and the stars are so bright
but maybe if we sit still
time will forget us, just for tonight...
staring at the sky
our story’s in the stars
i wish i had a way to make it last
to keep us where we are...
can we runaway
disappear into my dreams
and let this river take us to a place
where no one else can see...
just the moonlight, you, and me

You Already Know
by Jesse Stratton
You’re asking me why, but you already know
Just close your eyes, and pretend that you don’t
Some things are better, if you leave them unsaid
So I’m not gonna tell you, I’m gonna show you instead
‘Cause if I start talking... It might take all night
and if you start thinking... you might change your mind
Time... Time is one thing...that ain't on my side
So I have go... And you're asking me why.... But you already know
You’re taking your time, while the crowd disappears
They’re going home, but you’re still sitting here
I can’t help but wonder, Why you want me to stay
But you don’t wanna tell me, and I guess that’s okay...
‘Cause if you start talking.. It might take all night
And if I start thinking... I might change my mind
Time.. time is one thing, that ain’t on our side
So I have to go... you keep asking me why... but you already know
You already know

Watching The Moon

Watching the Moon
by Jesse Stratton
the wind is rollin tonight, over the hills
the trees are swaying but i'm, sitting still
there ain't no clouds in the sky, to block the view
there ain't nobody around, 'cept me and you
I've been watching the moon tonight,
and the shadows from the sky, dancing in your eyes
I know it ain't gonna be no fairy tale,
but baby, if I'm dreamin I hope that I don't ever wake up
it's another one of those nights, under the stars
the world is sleeping right now, but here we are
it's another one of those dreams, you don't forget
and you find yourself wishing it, will never end
I've been watching the moon tonight,
and the shadows from the sky, dancing in your eyes
I know it ain't gonna be no fairy tale,
but baby, if I'm dreamin I hope that I don't ever wake up
the wind is singing a song...
and I am singing along...
I've been watching the moon tonight,
and the shadows from the sky, dancing in your eyes
I know it ain't gonna be no fairy tale,
but baby, if I'm dreamin I hope that I don't ever wake up
if I'm dreaming I hope that I don't ever wake up
I don't wanna wake up

Broken Strings

Broken Strings
by Jesse Stratton and Steve Burkhart
Time is running out
Patience, wearing thin
A shadow of a dream
Is all this has ever been
Always in my mind
The dream is whispering
But do you hear my words
Are you listening
I don't really know
Why I wanna sing
All I have to show
Is heartache and broken strings
How have I ended up
So far away from home
When all I really want
Is to never feel alone
I never made this choice
I didn't pick this part
To sing the saddest songs
And live with a broken heart
I don't really know
Why I wanna sing
All I have to show
Is heartache and broken strings

Long Ride Home
by Jesse Stratton
I woke up early
Had a lot to do, but not a lot of time
So I’m in a hurry, again
It’s the same old story
You know it isn’t fun, but you gotta get it done
So you wake up early, again
It’s been a long, hard day
And I’m kinda tired, and worn out
But I just got here
And I got a story, to sing about
So here we go, have a little fun
Everybody’s here right now
I’ll be lonely later
And I need something to think about
On the long ride home tonight
The truck ain’t runnin’
But you gotta find a way, to make it through the day
There’s always something, to fix
It’s the same old story
You know it isn’t fun, but you gotta get it done
Cause the truck ain’t runnin’, again
It’s been a long, hard day
And I’m kinda tired, and worn out
But I just got here
And I got a story, to sing about
So here we go, have a little fun
Everybody’s here right now
I’ll be lonely later
And I need something to think about
On the long ride home tonight

Silhouettes on the Horizon
by Jesse Stratton
the colors all fade
in the twilight
it's a battle they never win
the sky once was blue
now it is black
it happens again and again
all of my dreams are becoming
silhouettes....
the places we go
the things that we do
the lives that we try to create
the homes we ignore
the friends we forget
the time we do nothing but waste
all of my dreams are becoming
silhouettes on the horizon
and the sunset haunts me

Fit It All In
by Jesse Stratton
Well I wonder what I'm doing wrong
I've been trying so hard for so long
This life is a marathon, you never slow down
And there ain't enough time in the day
Tell me, is it ever gonna get easy
Is it ever gonna slow down, am I ever gonna learn how
To fit it all in
Everyday when I wake up for work
It's a struggle to walk out the door
It's bumper to bumper, then it's 9 to 5
And now I'm falling asleep driving home
Tell me, is it ever gonna get easy
Is it ever gonna slow down, am I ever gonna learn how
To fit it all in
I wanna sleep til I'm rested again
I wanna spend some more time with my friends
I don't wanna worry about money, it's a waste of my time
I just need you here by my side
Tell me, is it ever gonna get easy
Is it ever gonna slow down, am I ever gonna learn how
To fit it all in

Infinite Sun / Take me away
by Jesse Stratton
tell me a story, sing me a song
make me believe, that nothing is wrong
tragedy whispers, into my ears
turns my ambitions, into my fears
please take me away...
if there’s a shadow there must be a light
i never found it but, together, we might
so take me away…..
i painted a window, onto a wall
i tried to crawl through it, but it was too small
trapped by a doorway, i could not unlock
but you turned the handle, so effortlessly, that so long i'd fought
if there’s a shadow there must be a light
i never found it but, together, we might
so into the darkness, together we run
but we are surrounded by infinite sun…
